The University of Texas at Dallas, International Center for Advanced Materials Processing (ICAMP)

Eligibility Master or doctoral students will be sent for two months to The University of Texas at Dallas, which carries out research ranging from bio-related plasma processing to semiconductor processing, to carry out research while engaging in discussions with faculty at the host institution.
Period of research 60 days from mid-October (departure) to mid-December (return) 2012 *tentative, 2 people

The placement student will discuss this in detail with faculty at the host institution after the placement has been decided.
Application Criteria 1) Applicants must be enrolled in a master or doctoral course at a research institution in Japan, and must be carrying out research related to plasma science or applications.
2) On the basis of discussions with faculty at the host institution, the student will include the results of research at The University of Texas at Dallas in his/her doctoral dissertation, which must be written in English.
Expense to be covered by ITP Travel and living expenses

Selection Method Selection will be carried out in two stages.
<Initial selection>
The initial selection will be carried out on the basis of application documents by faculty of the Nagoya University Plasma Nanotechnology Research Center and International Center for Advanced Materials Processing (ICAMP)
<Final selection>
Applicants who pass the initial selection process will be interviewed at Nagoya University, when the final selection of the student to be sent will be carried out

Notes 1) When any results of research undertaken through this placement are published, it must be mentioned that they were achieved as the result of a grant from this project, and the following text must be included in any abstracts of proceedings or other publications.
“This work was supported by the JSPS International Training Program (ITP).”

2) The student needs proficiency in English. She/he must study English before beginning the placement.
(The placement student will be informed of details later.)

3) This program will not provide any compensation for any accident or other loss or injury during the duration of the placement. The placement student is required to take out travel insurance on his/her own behalf by UTD health insurance guidelines.
(The fact that insurance has been taken out will be confirmed before departure.)

4) The student needs to apply for J1 visa by him/herself. The applicant has to consider enough time to obtain a visa.

5) The student is responsible for paying the fees required to obtain a passport.

6) The student must submit a report following the placement (in Japanese and English)
Applicants will be notified of the result of the selection procedure in early September.
